Intro
The Spanish-American War was a conflict between the United States and Spain in 1898. In April of that year, President McKinley sent armed troops to Cuba to help end the brutal war in the Spanish colony of Cuba, to support Cuban independence, and to help withdraw Spanish troops. Spain, in response, declared war on the United States.
